Escape rooms are interactive adventure games where players work together to solve puzzles, decipher clues, and complete challenges within a themed room. You need to solve puzzles and follow clues to allow yourselves to complete the objective within one hour. This objective varies from game to game, the ultimate goal is to "escape" or achieve a specific objective within a set time limit.

How long does an escape room game typically last?

Our escape room games usually have a time limit which typically ranges from 60 to 90 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to receive instructions.

What is the maximum capacity for your escape rooms?

Each game has a set maximum capacity plan this ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all players while maintaining the integrity of the game's challenges.

What are the games about?

Cabin in the Woods - an investigator of the supernatural, has gone missing. Tracking his last known whereabouts, you and your team find yourselves locked in a Cabin in the Woods; but all is not as it seems.

Ghost of Old Maid Milly - you are ghost hunters searching an old woman's house, looking to put her spirit to rest

Chambers of Champions - you are contenders in a medieval contest where the winners become the next rulers of the kingdom

Crypt of the Cursed - You have been invited to an old Victorian crypt owned by your family but soon find yourselves being locked inside

Are any of the games scary?

Yes, the ghost of Old Maid Milly has a scary atmosphere with jump scares throughout the game. If that seems too much, there is the option to play with minimal jump scares.

Crypt of the Cursed offers a scary atmosphere without any actual jump scares.

Cabin in the Woods and Chambers of Champions are not scary games.

Is there an age limit for your escape rooms?

While our escape rooms are designed to be family-friendly, we recommend a minimum age of 12+ to fully participate in the puzzles and challenges. Children under this age will require adults to supervise and may find some of the tasks too challenging. Although of course children are welcome to attend as part of a family booking!

Are your escape rooms suitable for kids' birthday parties?

Absolutely! Our escape rooms are a fantastic choice for kids' birthday parties. We offer age-appropriate puzzles and themes to ensure an enjoyable experience for children. Please contact our Events team on [email protected] for more information on hosting a bespoke birthday celebration.

Can groups of under-18s play by themselves?

Yes, groups of 13-17-year-olds can play without an adult in the room as long as the following criteria are met:

1. We have been notified by email AT LEAST 48hrs prior of arrival, so that we can arrange sufficient staff coverage

2. A responsible adult remains on site for the duration of the game

Please note that any bookings that do not follow the guidelines above will be cancelled and the group will not be able to play. No refund will be given in this circumstance.

Can I bring a larger group for team-building or special events?

Certainly! We welcome larger groups for team-building events, corporate outings, and special occasions. Please contact our Events team on [email protected] so we can customise your experience and accommodate your group's needs.

Can we park at the venue?

Yes, we have ample free parking available! However please ensure you register your vehicle with us on arrival to avoid a fine. Registration consoles are available at the main Reception and in our bar.

Is there anywhere to eat and drink?

Absolutely – our Spectrum bar lounge and Chartwell restaurant are at your full disposal for drinks, a light snack or delicious homemade food! During busy periods it is advisable to book tables in advance – please visit our website for menus and booking.

Is your venue wheelchair accessible?

Access to the hotel and our main areas, including our bar and restaurant are step-free. However the escape rooms are located down steps and so are not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Can we take pictures/videos?

No, cameras and video recorders are not permitted as sneak peeks would potentially reveal the games to others and spoil the surprise! We would ask that you do not reveal any of the clues, puzzles or solutions to anyone.

Your voucher will be delivered to you or to the recipient if you choose to specify the recipient's email address.

  1. There are no restrictions on when your voucher can be delivered. You can choose to have it delivered instantly or at a later date of your choosing.
  2. Delivery of your voucher by email is free of charge.
  3. You (or your recipient) will receive an email containing your voucher as you see it in the window above together with a link to download your voucher at any time.

GENERAL NOTES

1.1 These are the terms and conditions on which you join us on a Escape Room at Donnington Manor Hotel (“the Experience”). We hold the right to amend or vary these terms and conditions including any of the contents of the website from time to time at our sole discretion without prior notice.

1.2 Please read these terms carefully before you submit your booking to us. These terms tell you who we are, how we will provide the Experience to you, how you and we may change or end the contract, what to do if there is a problem and other important information.

1.3 Please note that, if you are making the booking on behalf of others in your group, it is your responsibility to ensure that these additional players agree to these terms and are in receipt of all relevant information relating to the booking. Escape Room at Donnington Manor Hotel shall not be responsible if members of your group are unable to participate in an Experience as a result of you failing to provide them with all the relevant information.

OUR CONTRACT WITH YOU

2.1 Individual/ private customers (B2C customers):

2.1.1 Our acceptance of your booking will take place when your payment is processed successfully, and you reach the booking confirmation page, at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us. We will also send you an email confirmation.

2.1.2 If we are unable to accept your booking, for example because of limitations on our resources, we will inform you of this in writing and issue you a refund.

2.1.3 We will assign a booking reference to your booking and tell you what it is when we accept your booking and include it in the booking confirmation email. It will help us if you can tell us the booking reference whenever you contact us about your booking.

2.2 Corporate customers (B2B customers):

2.2.1 Your booking will be accepted when you agree the date, store, activities, number of guests in your party and the price with your event organiser. At this point the contract will be treated as concluded and the full booking fee will be payable immediately. For large (24+ people) and/ or full venue bookings your event organiser may at their discretion agree to (1) take a deposit at the time of booking in place of the full fee at that time for the activities booked with the full fee being paid at an agreed later date if relevant and/ or (2) consider payment terms with you for the booking. Please note that once booked, the full fee is payable at the time of booking; any grace period for payment is not obliged to be given. Please be prepared to make payment in full at the time of making the booking.

2.2.2 Once booked and payment made (or payment terms agreed as the case may be as outlined in paragraph 2.2.1 above), we will send you a confirmation email and booking reference to assist you with generating any purchase order you may need to internally yourself, and in respect of which we will send you an invoice if you request; please note that the booking fee is payable at the time of booking, and not the date of your purchase order or our invoice as the case may be. It will help us if you can confirm your booking reference whenever you contact us about your booking.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

3.1 We will deliver the Experience to you on the date specified in the booking confirmation email that we send you.

3.2 Before participation in the Experience, participants must complete and sign a paper liability waiver including abiding by our measures to keep staff and customers safe with any guidelines in place from time to time. Any participant who does not complete and sign the liability waiver will not be permitted to participate in the Experience (as relevant) and shall not be due any refund. We will comply with latest government guidance which could include use of track and trace systems.

3.3 You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to contact us regarding the suitability of our games for any health or disability issues that you may be concerned about.

BOOK CANCELLATIONS

4.1 Where you have booked and paid for an Experience or made an Experience and table paid booking together under one booking, you will not be due any refund should you cancel your booking. As we are selling you a leisure activity, this means there is no statutory cooling off period as there usually is when you buy a service on-line. If you wish to cancel a table booking without any associated Experience booking, we will refund the table booking paid, unless your table booking is part of a ticketed special event in which case no refund will be made. If due to unforeseen and serious circumstances a rearranged booking will not sufficiently resolve the enquiry, the General Manager has the discretionary authority to issue a voucher for the equivalent value with an expiry date no more than 30 days after the date of the original booking

4.2 Re-scheduling your booking may be possible, but only at the discretion of the Escape Room At Donnington Manor. In all circumstances, your request to re-schedule a booking must be made more than 24 hours prior to the time of the original booking, and any re-scheduled booking must be within 30 days’ of your original booking. If, for whatever reason, we are unable to accommodate your booking on an alternative date, or if you give us less than 24 hours’ notice of your request to reschedule a booking, you will not be due a refund.

OUR RIGHT TO CANCEL OR AMEND YOUR BOOKING

5.1 In certain circumstances, we may need to cancel your Experience. If we do so we will use reasonable endeavours to contact you as soon as possible.

5.2 Similarly, we may make changes to the Experience such that it differs from that as advertised when you booked. If the changes we make are significant, we will use reasonable endeavours to contact you as soon as possible. In such circumstances, should you not wish to proceed with your booking, you can reschedule within 30 days of the original booking date.

5.3 In the circumstances set out in 5.1 to 5.2 we may cancel this agreement and you shall not be due a refund:

5.3.1 you or any participants do not complete and sign the liability waiver if participating in Axe Throwing.

 5.3.2 if, in the opinion of any of staff, you or any participants are behaving in an aggressive, abusive or threatening way towards either Escape Room staff or any other customers; or

5.3.3 you or any participants do not participate in the Experience in accordance with the safety rules and advice provided to you by members of our staff prior to, or during, the Experience.

HOW TO CANCEL YOUR BOOKING

6.1 To inform us that you would like to cancel your booking with us, please use the contact details set out on the website of the venue with which you made the booking, or the event’s organiser who you have been speaking with.

PRICE AND PAYMENT

7.1 The price of your booking (which includes VAT) will be the price indicated on the booking and in the case of B2C customers as noted on the payment pages of our website at the time you place your booking, or in the case of B2B customers, it will be the price agreed with your event organiser when you make the booking and conclude the contract. Once your payment has been processed, we will also send you an email receipt confirming how much you paid. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. To the extent that we do amend the price, the price paid for any booking prior to the price change will be unaffected and you will not be due a refund or required to pay any additional sums.

7.2 To the extent that you bring less players to the Experience than booked, the price difference will not be refunded. Please note that there may be a minimum number of players for any game. Please check the relevant venue’s details for more information or contact the event’s organiser who you have been speaking with.

7.3 In case you have brought more players to the Experience than booked, the price difference can be settled upon arrival. Please note that there may be a maximum number of players for any game. Please check the relevant venue’s details for more information or contact the events organiser who you have been speaking with.

7.4 Our venues do not accept any cash payments. We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, American Express credit and debit cards. Payment must be at the time of booking, and we will not accept your booking unless it has been paid for in full.

DISCOUNTS

8.1 Please note that we do not offer discounts for all of our experiences and products. Please check our booking pages for more details.

8.2 Discounts cannot be applied to any of our group packages (including, but not limited to, Enigma, Curse of old Maid Milly, Crypt of the Cursed and Chamber of Champions).

OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE SUFFERED BY YOU

9.1 Our total liability to you, howsoever arising under or in connection with the contract, shall be limited to 100% of price paid or payable by you under the contract.

10.1 We will only use the personal information you provide to us as set out in our Privacy Policy.

10.2 We will store your data in accordance with any relevant statutory, local or central government regulations, including those imposed on a temporary basis from time to time.
